With SKUM “FOAM” in Danish, we were tasked with the challenge to create a structure that can be moved multiple times with little assemblage required, with the Pavilion scheduled to move from Roskilde to the Chart Art Fair later in the summer, then to its final destination at the ARoS Aarhus Kunstmuseum next year. SKUM is inflated in one hour and deflated in less time, the simple idea behind its construction was to plug in and play. The pavilion is designed as a large bubble-like cloud, featuring a 120 square meter canopy for festival goers to relax under its the generous shade. At night, LEDs are programmed to illuminate the pavilion from both the inside and outside, like an enormous nightlight on the festival grounds. Designed for the festival’s main sponsor, the historic Copenhagen-born Tuborg Brewery, the pavilion will feature a variety of specialty craft beers for the 130,000 daily visitors to enjoy in support of arts, youth and humanitarian charities all over the world.
